welcome to
the insomnia salon
Community art experiences,
produced through a collaboration between artists
Eddie Estrin, Margit Berman (of Jackson Street Arts), & Julie Marie Muskat (of Deeper Water Arts)
Started in 2025 through the Jewish Arts Collective,
The Insomnia Salon is a surreal, sleepless performance & art collective.
The Salon brings together troubled souls in these anxious times for conversation, magic, myth, poetry, music, dance, & art to allay our fears, build human connection, & spark a creative, loving response to the problems of our time.
Insomnia Salon Vol. 3 is a dazzling evening of enchantment and wonders, a night circus for the senses!
Insomnia Salon Vol. 3: The Night Circus is a two-hour sunset-to-twilight pop-up experience on Raspberry Island, the iconic Mississippi island tucked just beneath downtown Saint Paul. Guests of all ages can expect a surreal, cabaret experience unfolding all across the island over two hours, as the sun sets and night descends. Let the Insomnia Salon of 45+ collaborating artists dazzle your senses!
Find yourself welcomed into the River Carnival: aerialists dazzle you as the mysterious emcee guides you onto the island, where food trucks, aerialists, art stations, free tarot card readings, strolling musicians and dancers, and mysterious interactive characters like the Perfume Woman and the Walking Void draw you into a riotous sunset carnival. Will the perfume woman create a magical fragrance just for you? When you peer into the Camera Danscura, what fantastic dance mysteries will be created just for you? Is that singer singing something you heard last night in your dream?
You won’t have time to wonder before 18-foot-tall, blue-and-red, fabulously sequined river spirits, the emcee, and puppets presented in collaboration with Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theater guide you to the Big Top Schubert Bandshell at sunset. There, performers including Vox Medusa, musician Eddie Estrin, belly dancers, dance duo Mariusz Kujawski and Emma Fitzsimmons, and guitarist Liz DeYoe, and more, present a short cabaret. As night descends, follow the fire and water spirits down toward the river for a luminescent ritual end to your night.
Insomnia Salon Vol. 3, in partnership with Saint Paul Parks, is on August 23rd from 7-9 p.m.
The show is open to all, free, with no tickets or pre-registration needed, and will take place on every part of Raspberry Island Regional Park in Saint Paul.
Don’t miss this one-night-only event!
Attendees should plan to take advantage of abundant free parking on Harriet Island and enjoy the short walk over to the performance site.
Food and beverages will be available for purchase; all ages are welcome to enjoy the show.
Please Note: Attendees should provide their own blankets or camp chairs for personal seating if desired during the Big Top Show (the audience area will be on grass).
